Week 16 – Sunstone
As I sit in my backyard and enjoy the heat of the sun beat down on me, I thought what a perfect day to write about Sunstone. I’m completely obsessed with Sunstone, to me its like a big burst of happiness in a little stone. When I think of sunstone I smile, just like anyone would do who thinks of a beach with sun and sand. So let me tell you a little bit about it so you too can find some love for this little stone full of so much light and happiness.
Sunstone is a magical stone and it does a lot of similar thing to what the sun does. It warms our hearts, it’s uplifting and it is known as a “joyful, light-inspiring stone”.
It is said that if life has lost it’s sweetness, sunstone will restore it.
Traditionally Sunstone is linked to good luck and good fortune.
If you are a person who is continually making sacrifices for others and has a hard time saying “no”, this stone will help instill self-empowerment and independence in you helping to bring the meaning in situations back to you instead of it always being about others.
Emotionally Sunstone is a great anti-depressant. Because of it’s uplifing energies, it can lift any dark mood in an instant. It is also fantastic for those who suffer from seasonal effective disorder, helping lighten the darkness of winter.
Sunstone reverses feelings of failure and increases self-worth and confidence. It encourages optimism and enthusiasm and switches any negative situation into a positive almost instantly.
Sunstone is also a powerful stone for helping protect you from those around you who may drain your energy. Whether mentally, emotionally or physically draining, is extremely beneficial for helping remove that negative energy and turn it into something good.
From a healing perspective, Sunstone stimulates the nervous system and helps to harmonize all of our organs. it treats stomach ulcers and sore throats and as mentioned before, it works exceptionally well for those who suffer from seasonal effective disorder and depression. It is also commonly used in healing practices for rheumatism, cartilage problem and general aches and pains.
Sunstone is found in colours from Yellow, orange to a deep red brown.
So if your like myself and eager for the summer to start and the sunshine to stay around, it’s a must you go grab yourself a little dose of sunshine in the form or Sunstone. This would be a wonderful stone to sit on your desk if you work in an office all summer and don’t get to enjoy the sun during the day. Or if you just want to carry a little sunshine with you everywhere you it is a perfect gem to carry with you in your pocket!
